Background Marine Fire and Rescue consists of 35 dedicated and extensively trained men and women. Our volunteer firefighters and EMTs operate a fleet of 6 trucks and a rescue boat, including two pumpers, a rescue truck, a brush truck, a pumper/tanker, and a dedicated tanker. We respond to approximately 200 calls per year, typically spending over 3,100 firefighter hours annually on fire, emergency medical services, motor vehicle collisions, and other rescue calls as well as classroom, hands-on training, and fire safety week visits to the Marine Grade School and Windmill Pre-School.
At 85 square miles, our district is one of the largest in Madison County, with boundaries of Fruit Road (to the North), Hickory Flat Road (to the South), Prairie Road (to the East), and the intersection of Pin Oak Road/State Route 143 in Edwardsville (to the West). The Marine Community Fire Protection District has contracted with Highland EMS to provide Advanced Life Support (ALS) medical care and transportation for patients in our district.
